UPDATE – 13/06/23
Good evening!
Attached is the Gameplay Schedule for the Tournament.

For teams playing at 10am, arrival and check-in at the Headquarters tent is between 8:30 and 9am. Parking will be on the grass, through the main gate to Roundshaw Playing Fields which is at the end of Hannibal Way – I’ll send a map in advance and attendants will direct you. Volunteers will be wearing high-vis vests both days.

I’ll send a Tournament Rules one-pager in the next couple of days and we’ll print some copies as well. I’ll also send a sign-up form for the Home Run Derby, which is £10 entry per player (max of three per team – up to managers to put them forward). Authentic Mexican tacos, beers, and a DJ!

A few notes:

We will have some benches, but bring folding chairs and a gazebo for dugout shade if you have one. There will be a large marquee tent for shade during breaks and there will be plenty of food and refreshments available. Appreciate you supporting our vendors!

The spirit of this event is a baseball festival – we want everyone to have a great time and suggest that managers use this opportunity to share gametime with players that don’t always get to play as much. We don’t want a lot of competitive angst – save that for your BBF fixtures and the Summer Cup :)

We’ll use one of the diamonds to have a Development Pick-up Game each day – perfect for newer players who want some game experience.

It’s our first year reviving this Tournament, under new management – thank you for your understanding if there any bumps this year. We would love to have your feedback after the event so we can bring you an even better Tournament next time.

Bring your youth players on Sunday for T-Rex T-Ball (10:30am – 12:30pm), ages 4-8 and BBF Mix-and-Match Games (11:00am – 3:30pm, break from 12:30 – 1:30pm), ages 9-12 and 13-16. We’ll also be celebrating Father’s Day! Flyer attached.

Everyone is welcome to camp overnight Saturday to Sunday and we’ll screen a baseball movie after sunset. Showers available Saturday eve and/or Sunday morning.

UPDATE – 10/06/23
Dear London Tournament GM’s,
We’re looking forward to hosting your teams next weekend! Attached is an Event Schedule. There may be some small changes in terms of exact timings – in which case we’ll send you another version and have printed copies available when you check in on Saturday morning.

We’re also creating the schedule of gameplay and will send that over to you as soon as possible.

The format is a round-robin tournament, with all games 1hr45mins. Teams will play two games on Saturday, one on Sunday morning. The standings and, in the event of a tie, head-to-head results will determine who advances into semifinal and final games on Sunday afternoon.

Especially in the lower bracket (AA/A – which the Mariners will be playing in), we want to support teams providing playing time to everyone on their squad, so we’re allowing free substitution with some guidelines that we’ll send later this coming week.

Camping is permitted overnight on Saturday (not Friday). The football club will be open for showers Sunday morning.

Finally, we’re also holding youth activities and a Father’s Day celebration on Sunday the 18th, so bring your kids along for a fun day:

This June, Roundshaw Playing Fields will once again play host to a spectacular selection of teams from across the country as 2023 sees the welcome return of one of the highlights of the British baseball calendar, the London Tournament.

Back after a temporary break, the historic open-invitation tournament will pit entrants against each other in two separate knock-out brackets – one featuring teams from Britain’s elite National Baseball League and Triple-A divisions, and the other with exceptional Double-A and Single-A talent – with games taking place over two days on Roundshaw’s dedicated baseball fields.

This stacked celebration of baseball will also include a Home Run Derby with prizes to be won, a youth-league mini tournament, food, beer, and music, as well as an open-air Ballpark Cinema after night falls, not to mention the crowning of each brackets’ respective champion. A campsite will be available for overnight campers remaining onsite between the two days.

This event is made possible by the Croydon Pirates with assistance from the BBF, Sutton County Council, and Donnelly Financial Advice.
